Detect - Defend - Educate
MCHxSec
Hi, I'm Matthew Charron.
My path into cybersecurity wasn't a straight line — I've worked across agriculture, manufacturing, machine shops, warehouses, and retail. But throughout every role, one theme remained constant: I've always been drawn to work that challenges me, demands precision, and allows me to make a meaningful impact.
I'm deeply curious by nature. I enjoy solving problems, spotting inefficiencies, and finding better ways to approach technical challenges. I'm also someone who believes in lifting up those around me — whether in the workplace or at home as a father.
In my search for truly fulfilling work, I discovered cybersecurity and immediately felt at home. Right now, my focus is on the defensive side — SOC operations, log analysis, and incident response. There's something I love about the investigative work: pulling the real story out of the noise, correlating evidence across systems, and documenting it clearly enough that the next person can act on it. Every alert is a small mystery, and the mission is always the same — protect people, businesses, and their most valuable assets before real damage is done.
Long-term, I'm working toward penetration testing. I don't think you can defend well without understanding how an attacker actually thinks, so I've spent time building offensive skills alongside the defensive work — reconnaissance, exploitation, privilege escalation — because that perspective makes me sharper on the SOC side today, and it's the direction I'm building toward next.
Today, I'm building my skills through hands-on labs, SOC simulations, and technical projects that blend defense and offense. Through MCHxSec, I aim not only to sharpen my own capabilities but to educate, share, and support the next wave of security analysts in the process.
